Laboratory Technician Assistant (FT Contract)
This is an entry-level full-time contract position from August 2024 – November 2024, requiring on-site availability Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional overtime or weekend hours.

Your Role
As Lab Technician Assistant, the successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to learn and will assist Quality Control Managers and Lab Technicians in performing various tests and procedures to accurately grade the quality and condition of grain samples for growers, traders, and P&H’s various facilities.Day to Day
- Preparing various samples for analysis and testing
- Grinding and weighing samples
- Testing samples for moisture, protein content, and vomitoxin levels
- Falling number analysis
- Performing maintenance checks on equipment and log maintenance activity
- Daily calibration checks on lab equipment
- Assist with monthly check programs
- Maintaining cleanliness of the lab
Qualifications
- Education in agriculture or food science is an asset, though candidates without formal education in these fields will also be considered
- Knowledge of lab terminology, lab equipment, and testing procedures is an asset
- Ability to identify and solve quality issues
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast paced and dynamic environment, while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail
