Job Description

JOB SUMMARYThe role will be responsible forensuring Sun Gro’s quality practices are adhered to at the site they support as well as external agency requirements. This is done by following the steps outlined in the SQS Manual, conducting tests on raw materials, in-process components and finished products. The Lab Technician must consistently monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications. Data is collected and reported to ensure consistent product is produced and verified.PLANT DESCRIPTIONSun Gro HorticultureMB-11, Reynolds, MB R0E 1Z0WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?Competitive salaryCompetitive health, dental and insurance plansCompetitive matched retirement savings programThe opportunity to join a continuously growing organization with focus on diversity and inclusionThe opportunity to work with an industry leader in manufacturingWHEN YOU JOIN US, YOU WILL BE:Understand and accurately follow the SQS program and its requirementsWork with operations employees to complete raw material, in-process and finished product testing per SQS ManualUnderstand and follow the appropriate protocols (escalation) when materials fail to meet expected quality parametersTest finished product at the start of a run and throughout to ensure consistencyCollect or create samples as required by Technical, Regulatory or other teamsCalibrate testing equipment as required by SQS ManualAssist in plant/mix line calibration as requested by operationsCollect retain samples as required by SQS ManualTrain employees in performing receiving, in-process and finished product testing as requiredEnter test results into SG database Navision quality module and provide to approved parties e.g. Grower/Technical Specialist data as requestedAssist Grower Specialist and Operations with claims resolutionParticipate on Plant-centric teams to provide insight into quality issues in a timely mannerOUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:High school diploma or equivalent1 – 3 years experience in production of soils or related industry is an assetStrong math,analytical and problem solving skillsGood organizational and communication skillsExcellent attention to detailFosters TeamworkAbove average computer skills, Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and other data-based system.Physical Requirements:Ability to walk, sit, stand for extended periods of time.Able to lift up to 20 lbs.Ability to smell, hear and seeAbility to touch and feelAbility to work shift workAbility to communicate effectively and interpret tests results to others
