Description

Snowboard Instructor (Dual Certified) – Kids Centre

Short Description

The Ski & Board School team at the Big White Kids Centre (KC) is one of the largest mountain programs designed for children in Canada. The position offers a supportive and positive working environment, employee incentives, extensive instructor training and access to almost 3,000 acres of some of the most varied and fun terrain to teach children and explore all winter long.

Detailed Description

Currently seekingCASILevel 2 and above instructors (dual certification is strongly preferred) who are available for the full winter season (approximately the beginning of December until early April).

Snowboard instructors without dual certification may apply. Single cert candidates with demonstrable experience of working with children in a sporting environment are preferred.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Deliver lessons following CASI and Big White Ski & Board School’s teaching methodology.
  • Develop lesson content to create a safe and fun learning experience to children aged 3-12.
  • Evaluatelesson participants and completeachievement records.
  • Act with diligence to safeguard guests and fellow workers whenever applicable.
  • Demonstrateeffective problem solvingas required.
  • Embrace the KC motto of "safety + fun = more fun" when interacting with internal and external customers to create a memorable alpine experience.
  • Work cooperatively and maintain open communication with Big White staff.
  • Take appropriate action to deal with incidents and emergencies as per company procedures.

Position requirements

  • Minimum of Level CASI level 2 (or the international equivalent) and above is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with children in an organized setting is preferred (e.g. ski school, summer camps etc.)
  • All applicants should submit a cover letter and resume with twocontactable references, and include a copy of any relevant current certifications. Preference will be given to those who also have:
    • Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) certifications
    • CASI Snowpark certifications

Criminal Record Checks
All employees are subject to criminal record checks at Big White Ski Resort. It is the responsibility of the employee to provide a current criminal record check.

Wage

Base wage is $19.50 for Level 1, $22.50 for Level 2. Wage increases are based on relevant instructing certifications and time-based accruals.

  • Ability to carry 40lbs/18kg while skiing/riding
  • Ability to assist a fallen skier/snowboarder back onto their feet
  • Ability to lift 40lbs/18kg
  • Ability to ski/ride for 6-7 hours a day
