The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of engineering and restoration projects with responsibilities as follows:Active participation in maintaining Matrix’s strong safety cultureComplete inspections on construction projects, including compilation of regular inspection reports and photo logsAct as the primary “field” point of contact for various construction projects.Occasional environmental monitoring, groundwater/soil sampling field workAdvise construction personnel on major decisions such courses of action to deal with unexpected environmental and construction conditionsSupport tender document preparation for municipal construction projectsConduct topographic surveys for design and assessment projectsCoordinate with clients and subcontractors on-siteComplete topographic surveys and as-built surveysDrafting and design support using AutoCAD Civil 3D software to create base plans from field surveysAssist in the preparation of proposals and technical reports, technical specifications for engineering designs and cost estimatesCollaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals on a variety of projects such as watercourse construction, civil servicing, and restoration and ecology projects.What We Are Looking ForCollege diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalentProfessional Designation of (C.Tech, CET) or ability to obtain designation within 2 years,Previous experience in a consulting, municipal or a construction work environment is considered an assetAn ability to understand civil engineering drawings and interpret the designs on site.An ability to build positive relationships with contractors, clients, and other project stakeholders.A high degree of attention to detail and an ability to problem-solve.Willingness to travel and work in urban and remote locations across OntarioExperience using survey equipment such as high precision GPS units, Total Stations and UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles)Ability and experience working within a construction site around heavy equipmentBeing a Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC) or future eligibility is considered an asset.Previous experience using GIS Software programs (i.e. ArcGIS or QGIS) and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D software programsService-oriented with strong time management skillsExperience with environmental monitoring, groundwater/ soil sampling is considered an asset.A boating license and experience operating and working within a boat is considered an asset.Must be comfortable working in and around water and in all weather conditionsProficient technical writing skills and ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawingsA valid and clean driver’s license with no restrictionsWhy Choose MatrixAt Matrix you will be part of an amazing community of collaborative people who live our purpose and values and bring industry-leading technical expertise to their work every day.
