Job Description

The IT Project Manager (PM) is a member of the IT team and is responsible to interact directly with internal and external clients and stakeholders, negotiating project scope and budget while delivering quality in a timely manner. The key mandate is the successful delivery of projects to IT’s clients. This will entail:Working with the project sponsor(s) to define the scope and success criteria of the projectPreparing the project plan including budgets, work-plan, quality assurance plan, risk plan, resource plan, and operationalization planningCollaborating with leaders in IT and the business to determine and reserve the right resources for each projectManaging project resourcesAdhering to defined project management processes, methodologies and guidelinesSetting and providing regular structured updates to stakeholders and sponsors on project status and any issuesProactively identifying, resolving, or escalating issues that may impact the success of the project or customer relationshipMaintaining accurate records on project status and financial reportingConducting post-implementation reviews and lessons learnedMeasuring the success of the project and communicating success and gaps to inform a cycle of continuous improvementEnsuring a smooth transition to an operational stateThis position will be expected to improve the project management ability of the IT team with the implementation of disciplined project management processes.The following will be the key responsibilities for this position:Managing Programs and Projects: Launch and execute the program; monitor, control and report on the program outcomes; manage program and project quality; manage program and project risk; monitor and control projects; manage project resources and work packages; close a project or iteration; close a program; transition to operations; ensure clarity of project success.Managing Change Acceptance and Transitioning: Establish an implementation plan; plan business process, system and data conversion; plan acceptance tests; promote to production and manage releases; perform a post-implementation review; engage stakeholders and communicate effectively at various stages of project.The Project Manager will report to the Vice President, IT, and will be expected to work with the Manager, Infrastructure and the Manager, Solutions in the completion of business projects. Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary to accommodate vacancies within the organization.Requirements & SpecificationsFormal Education & Certification College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, or information systems or technology.Certification in PMP, and/or Agile/Scrum project management methodology required.Knowledge & ExperienceMinimum 3 years of experience planning and leading business projects that involve the implementation of technology.A demonstrable track record of successful project delivery as measured against clear success criteria.Proficiency with several project management software applications used to create and manage project schedules and resources.Knowledge of senior housing would be an asset.Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.Personal AttributesAble to exercise independent judgement and take action on it.Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.Excellent presentation skills as related to providing clear, concise, crisp project updates.Proactive consideration and action of possible outcomes, issues and opportunities.Disciplined and structured approach to cadence of project meetings and updates.Ability to communicate up and down the management chain, providing the appropriate level of detail and focus on the right information.Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail.Highly self-motivated and directed; entrepreneurial.Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.Able to persuade / influence stakeholders to drive optimization and standards.Ability to translate technical information into simple, and non-technical speak for the wider stakeholdersDemonstrated commitment to continuous innovation and improvement.This is a permanent role located in downtown Toronto with a salary of $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per annum.
