The Position

Our Edmonton headquartered client is seeking an IT Project Manager to join their team for a 2-year term permanent position. Reporting to the Director of Information Management & Technology, you be involved with a variety of technology-based projects with some running concurrently!

What You'll Do

  • Develop project plans, goals, budgets, communication and processes; identify resources needed.
  • Analyze all management and technical processes to ensure they’re delivered as expected.
  • Meet regularly with project stakeholders and define project goals and objectives.
  • Lead budget and resource allocation through all project phases.
  • Schedule project timelines and make estimates for the budget and schedule.
  • Generate regular reports to update stakeholders and manage projects.
  • Establish and train teams on processes and strategies.
  • Oversee day-to-day technical operations, including assignments and personnel review.
  • Define roles and responsibilities of the team and determine clear deliverables.
  • Research and evaluate new hardware and software technology and help make decisions on the cost-benefit analysis of new purchases.
  • Update and maintain hardware and software systems as needed.
  • Deliver projects and tasks on schedule.
  • Translate non-technical business needs into technical solutions with defined processes.
  • Guide the project team through option analysis with the ability to document and communicate to the intended audience.
  • With strong creative and analytical thinking, analyze and document business processes.
  • Write specification documents and communicate software problems and change requests to software vendors and application developers.
  • Understand and implement security practices, regulations and policies.
  • Select, purchase and implement infrastructure.
  • Provide ongoing collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Create detailed plans for execution and implementation of new processes.
  • Travel as the demand requires, with the possibility of overnight stays.

Mandatories

  • Degree in Information Technology, Bachelor of Technology, Business, Management or Computer Engineering plus 4-5 years’ progressive experience managing projects in a technical environment. For experience, some or all of the following technical infrastructure is considered an asset:
    • Communication systems
      • Nurse call systems
      • Phone solutions
      • Wireless communications (eg: Spectralink, Vocera)
    • MS SQL Server
    • Application Development
    • Networks
    • Servers
    • Security
  • Trained in project management and knowledge of various methodologies to deliver successful projects with PMP certification preferred
  • A combination of the following certifications is considered an asset:
    • ITIL certification
    • COBIT certification
    • CISSP certification
    • Architectural certification
    • Business acumen
    • Strong leadership qualities and ability to motivate a wide variety of teams associated with the project
    • Clear communication skills to guide project teams and coordinate with vendors and management
    • Being able to solve problems
    • Having analytical, computer and math skills
    • Knowledge of new and established software systems and the ability to train others on them
    • Organizational and time management skills to keep teams and projects on schedule
