JOB DESCRIPTION Position Highlights: The IT Project Manager is accountable for the successful completion of low risk and medium impact / complexity projects or the IT component of business projects safely, with quality, within budget and on time by leading cross-functional teams and applying project management principles. What you'll do Leads work programs and projects within a function and acts as a leader/expert for a specific set of professional skills internally and externally. Plans, directs, and reports on IT projects or the IT aspect of business projects by consistently monitoring project benefits, resources, and status and creating documents such as project charter, project management plans and schedules, risks and issues logs, financial reports, and completion reports so that the projects are implemented as planned. Manages resources (financial, technical, people) and adapts existing schedules, project timelines and budgets, tailoring standard delivery methodology, preparing project gate reviews, and ensuring project readiness using creativity and flexibility. Excels at delivering assigned initiatives on time, on budget, and to the required level of quality. Exercises independent judgment in analysis and problem solving on highly complex and medium scope problems, challenging guidelines when necessary. Makes day-to-day team-based decisions and understands when to ask for input, articulate trade-offs, and escalate risks. Understands how to prioritize work and ensure that the team is focused on doing the right things at the right time. Communicates effectively with a variety of stakeholders in writing (briefings, presentations) and verbally (meetings, one(1)on-one). Knows the audience and can adjust the communication accordingly, adapting to questions and audience needs. Proactively progress project schedules, manages change, and escalates issues as needed by focusing on desired outcomes, modifying project plans when required, and seeking advice from the appropriate stakeholders/contributors to enable successful completion of projects. Provides regular and significant coaching/mentoring, acts as a role model, and engages in self-development through personal leadership. Intentionally develops collaborative relationships within, and external to, BC Hydro in support of business objectives. as possible, holding individuals and teams accountable. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technology, or equivalent. A minimum seven (7) years of project management experience in a complex enterprise environment. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent, an asset. Experience in public sector or utilities, an asset. Excellent working experience with systems and development lifecycle and IT project management methodologies. Primavera P6 skills, an asset. Excellent communication skills for professional environment, written and spoken.
