Job Description

One of Adecco Public Sector's key clients is looking for an IT Network Infrastructure Engineer to join their team for an initial 3 month contract with likely extensions.

The role of IT Network Engineer is to support and maintain service capability of the Trust's IT network infrastructure, specifically in the area of Networking, Switching, Routing, Wireless, Switch Cabinets, Firewalls, Cabling, WAN Links, ADSL, Network Performance, Security and Resilience. The position provides technical expertise across a range of relevant IT networking technologies.


The post-holder will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the Trust's network across connected sites.


The Network Infrastructure Team will provide technical support to over 4000 clinical and administrative colleagues using IT services, across multiple sites. This role is both technical and operational and will involve the running of the IT support service to agreed service levels.


Key responsibilities of the role:



  • Support the Network Infrastructure Manager in the delivery of IT network services strategy to the published service level agreement.

  • Investigate technically complex IT issues (incidents) raised to the service desk and escalated by the second/third line support resources.

  • Provide an efficient and technically proficient network service.

  • Maintain all network infrastructure with the appropriate firmware and driver versions as per vendor recommendations.

  • Communicate regularly through meetings with teams and individuals and provide opportunity for two-way feedback.

  • Support the implementation of the Trust's data security policy and ensure it is communicated to all users.

  • Represent IT on project teams, as determined by management.


The successful applicant will need to have experience in the following:



  • Proven experience or qualification in IT Networks

  • Extensive knowledge of IT standards and system management methodologies

  • Good knowledge on Security/VPN's, MPLS etc.

  • Good knowledge on network switching & routing in a multi-site environment

  • Good knowledge of firewall configuration and management, including firewall security

  • Good knowledge of proxy servers

  • Thorough understanding of LANS/WANS (P2P vs national Ethernet vs ISDN etc.)

  • Basic understanding of server infrastructure technologies including VMWare, Active Directory, Clustering and MSSQL.


This role will fall inside scope for IR35 so will require the candidate to work via an Umbrella Company working 5 days per week on-site.
