Équité, is invested in diminishing crime in Canada, and protecting all Canadians against exploitation.Key ResponsibilitiesIn this position, you will work closely with a team to support ongoing investigations. Your responsibilities will include proactively identifying insurance crime through the use of various fraud detection tools and criminal intelligence techniques. You will analyze trends and patterns to uncover fraudulent activities and contribute to the prevention of insurance fraud.Specific accountabilities include:Perform analysis using fraud detection tools, identify fraud trends, support the location and recovery of vehicle thefts, establish connections between crime elements, and conduct related intelligence work.Manage the intake, review, and closure of fraud investigations.Establish investigation strategies, gather and analyze facts, handle case files, and ensure proper documentation and collection of physical or electronic evidence.Communicate with various stakeholders and prepare reports, file briefs, updates, and other materials on investigations in a timely and respectful manner.Manage investigative activities with creativity and critical thinking.Collaborate in the review and improvement of internal policies, directives, and procedures relating to fraud.Comply with provincial and federal laws and insurance regulations.Stay informed about emerging issues and build productive relationships with law enforcement and government bodies.Prioritize and manage workload to meet service level agreement (SLA) requirements for service and productivity.Work independently within a team to achieve common goals and meet department objectives.Adhere to team policies and procedures to ensure proper documentation of work. Contribute to the success of the team by willingly assisting others in completing work activities.Perform additional duties and participate in special projects as required.QualificationsCompletion of a university or college program in criminology or a related field5 to 7 years of experience in investigating property and casualty claims, including auto theft, staged motor vehicle accidents, and other insurance fraudSolid background in crime and intelligence analysis.Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrate strong investigation skills with attention to detail.Extensive experience in analytical investigation.Demonstrate strong research, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Ability to utilize computers to map fraudulent activity and produce visual presentations.Familiarity with geographic mapping software, data mining software, database and statistical analysis software, as well as Microsoft Office.Possess organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple conflicting prioritiesStrong analytical and deductive reasoning abilities.Exceptional verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.Capacity to work independently under strict deadlines and adapt to changes.Demonstrated trustworthiness and responsibility in handling sensitive intelligence and evidence.Positive attitude, motivation, and ability to collaborate within a team environment.High level of organizational and task management skills.Bilingual proficiency in French and English is required.
