Job Summary:The Business Insights Analyst Intern is responsible for supporting the aggregation of data from all business functions to create and update company dashboards. The goal of company dashboards is to inform the CEO and leadership team of key data points and indicators from all business functions to drive performance improvements in cost, quality, time and customer satisfaction. This role will support the business functions in analyzing trends, challenging ineffective KPI’s, and making data-driven decisions. This role will look to identify ways to connect and aggregate data across functions to drive business decisions that impact multiple business areas.Responsibilities:BUSINESS INSIGHTS & PERFORMANCESupport Business insights by leveraging company wide data points in support of the overall performance management processPartner with stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the data and business insights required to inform strategies and initiatives that will accelerate significant business results in a highly complex business environmentSupport business performance improvements by leveraging data sources to provide value added business insights to all business areas, including for all types of risks & opportunitiesPrepare and present reports, dashboards & presentations for departments and processes across the business with a focus on: ensuring indicators are collectively exhaustive, challenging business units on metrics that are not effective and comprehensive, and providing guidance on KPI creation where requiredSupport the development of the OpEx team dashboard to generate business insights that enhance understanding and development of strategies in M&T, SSC and business performance pillars of the IMSADVISORY, PROMOTION, CULTUREAdvocates and advises managers of business units on guidelines and best practices in the development of performance metrics that significantly contribute to informed decision making and improved business results.INTERFACESEnsure close collaboration between departmentsSupports the deployment and maintenance of the AOS standards and activities in NavblueSPECIAL PROJECTSLeads and/or supports special projects related to: Improving Navblue’s business insights, analyzing operating or business models, generating strategic analyses, and/or identifying business improvement opportunitiesOther duties as prescribed by management.Required Skills/Experience:Education:Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in either Computer Science, or Business Administration, or a related field of study from an accredited post-secondary institutionExperience:Minimum 1+ years experience from across business functions, which can include performance management, operational and/or business support related roles, process improvement, or consulting related to operations and/or strategyKnowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities & Competencies:Ability to negotiate, mediate and discuss complex topics with diversified decision makers at all levels of the organizationHighly analytical to build systems that measure business performance, capable of synthesizing large amounts of data into meaningful concepts, trends, outputs, etc.Research and Information gathering skills.A business person who has a data scientist mindset; this individual can understand and can manipulate data but can also translate data into impactful business insights.Project management skillsDesire for continuous learning of analytics technologiesMeticulous and detail-oriented capable-of and comfortable with routine and repetitive tasks where attention to detail is highly importantStrong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively adapt to change.Technical Systems Proficiency:Computer proficiency – able to navigate Email, Internet and MS Windows (O365) environment competently, with emphasis on MS Word and PowerPoint.Google Sheets intermediate user; capable of creating pivot tables, Gantt charts, keyboard short-cuts, VLOOKUP, etc.Qlik Sense experience would be an assetKnowledge of Python or R would be an assetKnowledge of SQL would be an assetPerks:Located in the heart of University of Waterloo’s David Johnston Research + Technology Park, NAVBLUE is close to shops, restaurants, gyms, daycare, and many other amenities, and only 10 minutes away from Hwy 85.
