POSITION: Paid Internship, Financial Analyst
REPORTS TO: Lead Portfolio Manager & Head of Research at Walter Public Investments
As a Financial Analyst, the selected candidate will be conducting fundamental investment research including: industry & trends analysis, financial reporting & modeling, and executive interviews.
In addition, the intern will be fully responsible for an independent investment project that will have a significant impact for our firm. Similar projects carried out in previous years have allowed candidates to study key sectors of the global stock market while developing new analysis tools.
Such projects, key to WPI’s future success, have resulted in sizeable investments in companies recommended by interns.
The internship’s duration will be determined according to the availability of the intern (at least 3 months). Please specify in your cover letter whether you would like to undertake the internship in fall 2024 or winter 2025.
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
Full-time student or recent graduate from a finance program in a Canadian university at the undergraduate (bachelor’s) or graduate (master’s, graduate diploma, PhD) level
Demonstrated academic excellence and leadership traits
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Ability to manage deadlines and multitask effectively
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Fluency in English and working proficiency in French
Previous experience in investment/finance (internship, student investment funds) is an asset
Computer programming skills and familiarity with Bloomberg also an asset
