Bluestar Engineering Ltd. is a Calgary-based EPCM company specializing in small to medium size oil and gas projects. We are a group of professionals who form a fully integrated, multi-disciplinary organization backed by many years of experience.We are currently seeking an Intermediate/ Senior Civil/Structural Designer to join our team.Duties & Responsibilities:• Responsible for the coordination of activities with other disciplines to develop designs and complete civil/structural drawing packages within the project scope, schedule, and budget.• Responsible for checking the work of Designers to ensure the quality and integrity of work.• Responsible for assigning and outlining work and providing technical guidance and supervision to more junior personnel; advice on technical problems; reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy; supervision may require making recommendations concerning selection, training, rating, and discipline of staff.• Responsible for making technical decisions and taking necessary action to expedite the successful completion of assigned projects.• Decisions related to long-range objectives are usually referred to more senior personnel.• Ensures consistency and integrity of design throughout the project.• Establishes project scopes of work, fit-for-purpose project discipline controls, planning, and execution.• Assists more senior personnel as required.• May be required to visit construction or fabrication sites on occasion.• Capable of performing all technical duties of subordinate positions.• Use detailed sketches or redlines to design 2D drawings using AutoCAD.• Develop 3D models, pile layouts, structural detail drawings, etc.• Check drawings to ensure they are complete and compliant with standards and specifications.• Make revisions and improvements to designs/drawings in accordance with changing project demands.Requirements:• Civil Engineering Technologist diploma or equivalent is required.• Extensive AutoCAD & CADWorx Steel experience.• Minimum 10 years relevant industry experience.• Experience in EPC/EPCM environments.• Experience producing pile layout, structural plans and sections, civil/structural bills of materials, etc.• Strong verbal and written communication skills.• Personable and able to work with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment.• Ability to adjust to change and multitask in a fast-paced setting.Please be advised that Bluestar Engineering Ltd. is an equal opportunity employer and only applicants who are selected will be contacted to schedule an interview.Job Types:· Full-time, PermanentBenefits:· Semi Business Casual dress· Company events· Extended health care· Dental care· Disability insurance· Employee assistance program· Life insurance· On-site gym· Paid time off· Vision careSchedule:· Monday to FridayAbility to commute/relocate:· Calgary, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
