Job Description

You will be assisting the Engineering Manager in the expansion and development of an existing pallet racking inspection program for our clients. You will be involved in several aspects of the program’s evolution including the execution of field inspections and data collection and will be responsible for creating and maintaining related documentation including drawings, calculations, client reports, internal reports, and permit submissions.

You will correspond directly with our clients, manufacturers, and other business partners, working individually and as a part of a project team. You will develop a knowledge of industry design standards and applicable codes relating to steel structures.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (P.Eng.)

Responsibilities

  • Structural engineering analysis and design of storage racking structure.
  • Provide detailed engineering design and construction support services.
  • Work as part of project team to prepare engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, technical reports, field inspections and project documentation.
  • Provide input into or prepare cost estimates, schedules, material specifications.
  • Communicate and interface regularly with client’s engineering, maintenance, and construction personnel as well as vendors and contractors.
  • A willingness to travel to client offices and field facilities is required.

Qualifications

  • Licensed professional in good standing and/or eligible for licensure with APEGA, and PEO.
  • 5+ years of engineering design experience.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory bodies and various code (OHS, ABC, NBC and CSA).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with team members and external clients.
  • Analysis and design of various structure foundation would be an asset.
  • Strong understanding of scope, time, risk, and quality management.
  • Able to work and contribute individually and as part of a team, being a self-starter.
    Proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Work experience with AutoCAD and structural engineering analysis software such as RISA and MathCAD.
  • Field experience and construction method will be as asset.
  • Must have experience in preparation of reports, material take off and technical project specification.
  • Ability to perform effectively as an individual or in a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Salary will be determined based on candidate experience.
