Job Description

Responsibilities
What your day will look like

Project Management & Design

  1. Work with senior specialists and technical teams on the design and development of remedial and/or risk management options for the management and/or remediation of contaminated sites and brownfields.
  2. Manage and lead projects related to the management of environmental contaminants in soil, groundwater, and other media, including phased environmental site assessments (ESAs) and the Ontario Record of Site Condition (O. Reg. 153/04 RSC) process.
  3. Development of/input to contract specifications to support the bid/tender process.
  4. Lead/assist with contract administration projects related to remediation.
  5. Act as the main point of contact/client liaison to communicate technical and project management information to client teams.
  6. Compliance with corporate, client, and site-specific health and safety protocols and programs and applicable health and safety regulations.
  7. Manage multiple simultaneous environmental projects involving teams of environmental staff and specialists.

Business Development

  1. Respond to Requests for Proposal related to contaminated sites work to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  2. Identify and develop new business opportunities.
  3. Provide leadership in the maintenance of existing client relationships, including preparation of proposals and statements of qualification.
  4. Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request.

Learning & Development

  2. Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.

Qualifications
What you will need to succeed:

  1. Designation as a Professional Engineer.
  2. A degree in environmental engineering or another relevant environmental or engineering discipline.
  3. Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in environmental consulting or related industrial experience, including project management experience.
  4. In-depth knowledge of the required regulations governing contaminated sites and remediation.

Experience

Design and implementation of the following:

  1. Remedial action plans.
  2. Risk Management Plans.
  3. Remedial solutions.
  4. Risk management measures.
  5. Remediation specs and tender packages.
  6. Contract administration.
  7. Permitting and compliance.
  8. Cost estimation of remedial programs.
  9. Remedial options analysis.
  10. Proven experience managing multiple contaminated sites/ESA related projects of various overall project value.
  11. Familiarity with various remediation technologies and approaches in different media.
  12. Working with contractors.
  13. Solid understanding of the Environmental Protection Act including regulations associated with brownfields, spills, and excess soils.
  14. Experience with industrial sites and First Nations communities.
  15. Strong understanding of contaminant fate and transport and development of conceptual site models to support remediation.
  16. Phased environmental site assessments (ESAs) and the Record of Site Condition (O. Reg. 153/04 RSC) process in Ontario.
