Our client is looking for a full-time Intermediate Interior Designer with 5–9 years of experience working in the interior design industry or integrated projects. The desired candidate will have experienceleading various phases of interior design projects and / or integrated design projects with oversight from a Senior Designer and/or Project Lead and will provide support as required.This individual will coordinate directly with the Client, Consultants, Contractors, and representatives from Public Authorities.Work may be associated with project tasks for mid to large scale projects. The intermediate interior designer is expected to work in collaboration with all project team members, consultants and vendors.Role Responsibilities:Conducts/oversees and conducts site verifications and gathers space inventory dataPrepares/oversees programming analysis and leads client interviewsDevelops/oversees space planning and code studiesDevelops/oversees design concepts, presentations, and presentation materialsDevelops/oversees the selection of materials and finishes and sample boardsDevelops/oversees furnishing selections and the preparation of furnishings documentationPrepares/oversees contract documents and specificationsCoordinates with Consultants and VendorsPreparation/review/oversight of construction administration documentation and attends site walkthroughs Leads client meetings, participate as required and prepares meeting minutesEstablishes and maintains project schedules, workplans and EVA’sAssist/Prepares client fee letters, schedules, and reviews client invoicingSchedules work assignments, setting priorities and delegating work accordinglyConfirms supporting project team members understanding of tasks including expected timeline of deliverables and how long they should take to complete to ensure workplan/fees are on trackProvides guidance to junior staff for completion of contract documentsProvides support to design staff during all phases of a projectWorks independently on small to mid-scale projects with minimal supportAble to work on multiple projectsAble to take on a Project Manager Role on small to mid-scaled interior design/integrated projects through all phases of workKeeps project manager and/or client informed of progress and issues as they ariseKeeps Departmental and Project Leads apprised of task progress and issues as they ariseMentor and facilitate development of junior interior design staffMay be required to provide support or assist with various tasks at various skills levels as may be required for project and / or firm successQualifications:5–9 years of experience in the interior design industry, or integrated projectsBachelor’s degree or diploma from CIDA accredited post-secondary instituteProvincial Intern Interior Designer (or in progress) is an assetNCIDQ – IDFX and IDPX practicum exams (or in progress) is an assetIDA/IDC Intern Member (or in progress) is an assetLEED/WELL Accredited is an assetAdvanced understanding of building codes, bylaws and municipal processesKnowledge ofdesign and construction process as well as building components, construction methods and sequencingStrong ability to put together complete construction documentpackagesAdvanced knowledge on finish specifications and materials applicationsSkilled in graphic/visualization & hand sketchingHigh proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office Suite,InDesign, Sketch-Up, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat & Bluebeam StudioWhat Our Client Offers:Compensation, competitive to the 2024 market based on experienceFlexible working environment / work from home optionsOpportunity to work on a variety of sustainable projectsContinuing education / professional developmentOpportunity to mentor & manage junior staffA collaborative and open concept officeProfit sharing program – open to all employeesExtra days on top of long weekends (4 day long weekends)If you are interested in this position and tick all the boxes above, please apply here or contact me directly at dchita@talentsphere.ca.
