Job Description

Johnston Group provides employee benefit solutions to over 30,000 companies, ranging from one employee to thousands across various product lines, including Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan, Canada’s #1 employee benefits plan for small businesses. JG is a platinum member of Canada’s Best Managed Companies and was named one of Manitoba’s Top Employers. We support a positive work atmosphere where we value the diversity in the people we serve and are looking for talent who will contribute to our diverse and inclusive workplace; where individual differences are recognized, appreciated, and respected. JG believes in giving back and contributes significantly to local health, arts, sports, and other community organizations.

Using a variety of modern technologies and tools, our developers work up and down the full stack to deliver performant and scalable web, mobile and desktop applications. As the successful candidate, you are part of a dynamic, agile team tasked with developing, maintaining and supporting enterprise web and mobile applications. You write high-quality code that follows industry best practices within project architecture and standards. You have the option of working in a hybrid arrangement or remotely.

As an integral part of our team, you are a responsible user of our shared infrastructure who is aware of the impact your work can have on delivery targets outside your team. You estimate accurate timelines and deliver work at a steady, predictable pace, ensuring you test and monitor the quality and production readiness of your complete solutions before and after release.

You are an independent and continual learner who leverages new technologies, patterns, and the domain expertise of others to supplement your own skills. You know when to keep digging, and when to ask for help, as you identify problems and document your solutions to help others. All members of our team seek and give feedback, then take steps to act on this guidance.

Additionally, this role will have you assist managers, developers, analysts and business units to meet project specifications and quality standards; support business units with technical issues relating to enterprise software and applications; and perform maintenance on legacy applications as required.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in Computer Science or related program
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with others effectively
  • Excellent understanding of software design and programming principles
  • Experience with SQL
