Job Description

Position Overview:

Our client is an innovative industry leading company that provides engineering services to the electric and telecom utility industry. We are currently seeking an individual as an Intermediate Technologist/Designer to contribute to our projects.

Responsibilities:

Prepare layouts, conceptual designs, calculations, illustrations and independent checks for UG and OH distribution projects.

Willing to assist in a variety of project support activities including project coordination, estimating, strategic planning, client support, and business analysis supporting the business development and project management departments.

Support documentation process for projects including technical specifications, tender documents, technical reports and project calculations.

Prepare design markups to the drafting group in order to assist in the development of an engineered drafted drawing.

Consult as required with the Professional of Record and action changes as directed.

Interface with other design disciplines, coordinate with related stakeholders, project managers and managers.

Provide a mentorship, training and guidance to junior staff.

Use computer-aided design methods to solve problems and prepare drawings.

Interact with clients, consultants and contractors on a continual basis.

Conduct site visits in order to verify existing site conditions.

Occasional travel should be expected.

Qualifications

Required:

Minimum of 1 years experience designing overhead power distribution assets in a power utility environment.

Strong communication and organization skills and attention to details.

Familiarity with project reporting, quantitative tools and the project life-cycle.

Class 5 drivers license

Preferred:

experience working with BC Hydro design systems an asset.

Post Secondary diploma or degree from a recognized electrical technology or engineering institution.

experience using pole line analysis design software tools such as Spida-calc an asset.
