They are dedicated to high quality design, exceptional client service and the incorporation of sustainable design principles in our projects.Our client is seeking a Canadian Registered Architect, Architectural Graduate, Intern Architect or an Intermediate/Senior Technologist to lead or support contract administration on their projects. This role will manage the full process from the contract documentation stage to the construction phase and then complete commissioning.ResponsibilitiesMaintain and review all project documentation, ensure accuracy of shop drawings, schedules, samples and alternate requestsPerform site reviews at project locations to ensure work is proceeding in accordance with construction contract and relevant building codes, track progress and identify issues or deviationsCoordinate with contractors, approving authorities or sub-consultants to document and address field issuesCreate and manage any project change documentation, respond to requests for clarification by providing supplemental drawings/specificationsCollaborate with design team to resolve issues, assist with constructability reviews and provide feedbackCoordinate the delivery of documents, drawings, and samples for all necessary approvals to clients and consultants and attending meetings as requiredManage all close-out activities as per project specifications including deficiency reviews, substantial performance review, final occupancy inspection, permits, receipt of manuals/warranties, letters of assuranceRequired Skills And ExpertiseGraduate of a certified Building Technology or Architectural program in a professionally recognized institution.Over 5 years of relevant experience in the Canadian Architectural Industry (BC experience preferred).Minimum 5 years’ of experience in contract administration of construction projects in CanadaMulti-disciplinary experience, specifically multi-family residential and commercial projects with knowledge of wood frame, concrete and non-combustible construction, in both new designs and renovationsDemonstrated expertise in building technology including wood frame and concrete construction.Demonstrate design sensibilities while being pragmatic and efficient in the production of working drawings.In-depth knowledge of the BC Building Code Part 3 and ASHRAE 90.1 (understanding of NECB would be an asset).Advanced skills in AutoCAD, and working knowledge of Revit and Sketchup would be an asset.Use of a personal vehicle and valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to project locations as requiredAbility to effectively coordinate with all stakeholders including: engineers, clients, designers and contractorsAbility to modify communication styles to meet the needs of the audienceAbility to meet challenges head-on, manage priorities and meet tight deadlines while demonstrating flexibility and a high level of resourcefulnessAbility to articulate alignment with our WA Guiding PrinciplesCertification as Construction Contract Administrator would be an assetWhat We OfferEngaging and energetic work environment with an approachable management/ownership teamWe work hard for our clients to deliver projects that go beyond their expectations and have them coming back for moreWe recognize our hard work with Friday afternoon socials, office-wide lunches, social activities outside the office and annual Family Day picnicsWe provide group medical benefits coverage and a hybrid work scheduleWhat We’re AboutWe value honesty, integrity, communication, leadership, and design excellenceWe foster our values with an open-door policy and a hard working yet casual approach to our businessWe go beyond with our support of non-profit organizations and causes in our community.
