Job Description

Our client is looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join their team. In this role, you'll conduct audits, prepare financial statements, manage year-end tasks, and handle tax-related responsibilities. Your accounting and client management expertise will be crucial as you work with diverse clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Audit and Review including planning, designing, and performing appropriate procedures and tests, preparing working papers, financial statements, and note disclosure by ASPE or IFRS
  • Streamline the preparation of year-end engagements (e.g. compilation) and tax returns for clients across diverse industries
  • Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Handle pre- and post-assessment reviews inquired by the CRA including analytical support, collection of information, and preparation of responses
  • Prepare and review T1, T2, GST/HST, T4 and T5
  • Establish and cultivate positive working relationships with clients and promptly address their requests and suggestions
  • Maintain prompt communication with manager/partner regarding progress updates and issues while coaching and mentoring junior team members
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities with existing clients

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation or CFE completed
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), ASPE, and Canadian taxation
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software including Caseware, TaxPrep, TaxPrep forms, and Quickbooks
  • Understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles
