IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITYInterim Director of Professional Practice/ EducationReports To: Chief, Strategy, Stakeholder relations, Research, Information & KnowledgeDuration: 6-12 monthsLocation: Toronto, ON Hybrid 2 days on-site 3 days remoteOur client is a large government agency who provide scientific and technical advice to a wide variety of publicly funded organizations and health providers. As you may see from the description below this is not a typical professional practice role, but it is utilizing the same skillsets. Our client needs a great coach and leader to provide support and guidance to a large team alongside expertise in designing and implementing educational programs to adults in healthcare.This is an exciting and impactful role in a high-profile organization where you will be challenged and provide strategic leadership and direction on the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of our client’s Knowledge Exchange strategy/framework to maximize the impact of the organization’s research and evidence and build capacity within the health system.RESPONSABILITIES:Provides leadership and direction for the integrated suite of knowledge exchange services (including Evaluation and Knowledge Mobilization (KMb), Product Development and Publishing, Capacity Building and Library Services) in order to foster change and innovation in individual practice, within organizations and at the system level.Provides oversight for the education and professional development programs including Rounds, student placements, e-learning and other educational offerings, ensuring that they are responsive to current and emerging needs and assist with developing the next generation of professionals.Provides leadership and direction for overall library services as well as knowledge exchange of information to influence the health care system and other partners/stakeholders to better meet population health needs in an equitable manner in support of internal and external clients, partners, and stakeholders.Provides oversight and ensures all the knowledge products, website and educational offerings comply with AODA legislation and that there are no barriers to accessing our products.Advances tools and best practices that facilitates and champions knowledge exchange with the senior leaders/managers to build organizational capacity for evidence-based knowledge exchange.Provides oversight for organizational compliance with the organization and government policies, standards, and rules, including French Language Services Act, AODA and Communications-related directives and protocols.Provides oversight for the development, implementation and management of website content , aligned with strategic and operational plans, ensuring the coordination and integration of related digital products and services; Provides oversight for department compliance with the client and government policies, standards, and rules.Manages critical relationships internal and externally often in a matrix or team structure and builds networks to negotiate and resolve conflict that have a crucial impact on both the department’s goals and strategic direction and mandate.Sets strategic and operational directions, defines operations, budget and program goals providing leadership and direction to staff ensuring they are committed and motivated to deliver on organizational and departmental strategic goals and objectives.Manages and directs managers to ensure congruence with the client’s internal policies and procedures, professional standards, Collective Agreement requirements and other relevant standards, legislation or regulations, including: providing direction and leadership in the implementation of new techniques and standards; setting clear responsibilities and objectives and evaluating performance; advising on training needs, participating in recruitment and selection; dealing with disciplinary issues and responding to grievances in conjunction with the client’s Human Resources management programs.Models organizational values and organizational culture and embeds values into area of responsibility.Supports the client in the provision of response in an emergency, pursuant to responsibilities as delegated in an emergency response plan; supports client’s 24/7 incident and emergency response through shared participation in on-call schedule, as required.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Master’s degree in a relevant field such as adult education, knowledge translation, public policy, or a related field.Ten (10) years’ progressive experience in senior management in a highly complex environment in the private or public sectors related to academic, health care or science with expertise in Education and Professional Development, Knowledge Mobilization, implementation, and evaluation.Proven expertise and effectiveness in the design and implementation of professional development and education programs.Proven expertise and effectiveness in all aspects of Knowledge Mobilization (knowledge generation, synthesis, critical appraisal, product development, knowledge translation, dissemination, evaluation and management, best practices).Political acuity and awareness of government directions, sensitivities, and relationships with the ability to work with ambiguities.Specialized knowledge across skilled professional and business disciplines within a matrix structure and shared leadership model.Considerable breadth of knowledge development in the complex field and understanding of the Canadian public health and health care systems to act as an authority in the subject area.Proven ability to interpret and draw strategic insights from complex quantitative and qualitative data to inform strategy development and measure progress towards strategic objectives.Judgement is exercised in analyzing and preparing budgets and tracking and maintaining records of all expenditures;
