IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY Interim Director of Finance Reports to: VP Corporate Services Duration: 4 - 6 months Location: Peterborough, ON Hybrid working Accommodation and KM covered Our client is a well-respected community hospital. They are looking for a seasoned leader to support the VP Corporate Services providing critical expertise and leadership to help the team through a period of transformation. This assignment will be both operational and change based as our client is looking for you to lead and reshape a small team and lean into some critical projects to improve the efficiency and value of the finance function. The assignment requires a strong collaborative and experienced leader who has the courage to think differently and who can cultivate partnerships for positive change. Functions reporting to the Director include case costing, treasury, general accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable/billing and supply chain management. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Coach, lead, and inspire a small and talented team through a period of transition. Assess all current processes and provide key insight and action opportunities to improve the efficiency of the finance function. Coordinate processes to determine the issues and scope of analytical reports. Prepares and/or directs the analysis and compilation of financial information to hospital leaders, the VP Corporate Services, and the Board as required. Oversees and is responsible for the financial processes/policies and internal controls of financial reporting systems, control of assets, and expenditure controls, as well as ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, MIS reporting, and Broader Public Sector directives Oversee the AP and AR functions and provide financial expertise to support new operational and capital investments. Lead a review of MIS trial balance accuracy. Lead a review of costs for the organization including costs per patient. Review the payroll function in preparation for a potential migration. Mitigates risk by ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, audit, legal, tax, etc. Ensures that all remittances, including HST and other government requirements, are current. Managing cash flow, including receivables and payables management. This includes appropriate investment of excess cash, management of credit facilities and regular reporting on short- and long-term cash flow forecasts. EDUCATION ANF EXPERIENCE: Accounting designation CPA is an asset. At least 7 to 10 years of experience at an equivalent level. Exceptional coach and people leader. Strong working knowledge of MOHLTC funding is preferred. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation). Strong project oversight and change management skills with a track record of leading and coaching effective teams through change.
