Our lawyers enjoy a diverse practice encompassing all aspects of insurance related litigation, as well as professional liability, occupier’s liability, products liability, coverage disputes and more.
Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Law Clerk to join our insurance defence team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal research, drafting, and file management within the context of insurance defence. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a proactive approach to case management, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist lawyers with all aspects of insurance defence litigation.
- Prepare and manage legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery notes, preparing Affidavit’s of Documents, briefing and summarizing productions.
- Conduct legal research and gather pertinent case law, statutes, and regulations.
- Coordinate and manage case files, ensuring all documents are filed accurately and timely.
- Assist in the preparation for and attendance at trials, hearings, examinations, and mediations.
- Liaise with clients, witnesses, and experts, maintaining professional and effective communication.
- Maintain and update document management systems and ensure compliance with firm policies.
Qualifications:
- A Law Clerk diploma or equivalent legal education.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in insurance defence or related legal field.
- Strong knowledge of litigation processes and procedures.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
