Job Description

  • Provide electrical leadership as Lead electrical engineer on small to medium size projects in industrial sectors such as Pulp & Paper, Wastewater Treatment, Power Generation.
  • Serve as AFRY’s electrical liaison with the Client.
  • Attend engineering review meetings with AFRY’s Project team and attend separate review meetings with the Client.
  • Complete electrical engineering and design tasks and p. Provide Assign work and provide guidance to junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Possess very good knowledge of all aspects of electrical design. Develop single line diagrams, grounding plans and details, MV & LV MCC layouts and controls, cable schedules (cable, conductor sizing), control panel layouts, motor power and control schematics and field wiring, termination list, interconnection wiring diagrams, UPS and emergency back-up systems.
  • Determine high, medium, and low-voltage feeder cable sizing ampacities based and determine motor protection and equipment protection.
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications, do Bid Analysis of quotations from electrical equipment suppliers and make recommendations.
  • Review and make comments to drawings from Vendor supplied equipment.
  • Review and approve electrical installation standards for project-specific installations. Develop new ones as required.
  • Approve and stamp electrical drawings done by the candidate and drawings done by others under the candidate’s supervision.
  • Perform electrical calculations and have an understanding of Electrical Power Studies would be an asset.
  • Develop physical layout drawings of electrical rooms, transformer rooms, outdoor substations.
  • Coordinate design with other engineering disciplines (Piping, Mechanical, Structural, Instrumentation) for successful project completions.

Qualifications

  • Direct Industry Practical Experience: Must possess in-depth knowledge and a working background in projects requiring detailed electrical engineering and design for the industrial sectors such as Pulp & Paper, Wastewater Treatment, Power Generation, etc.
  • 15 - 20 years professional experience in electrical engineering working for Consulting Engineering firm in design of industrial plants
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Perform conceptual and detailed design of electrical power and control systems (high, medium, and low voltages)
  • Member in good standing with the, “Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec”. Membership with other professional engineering associations would be an asset.
  • Travel to client job sites to gather information and participating in design review meetings.
  • Experience working at job sites to supervise the electrical installations would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools
  • Basic working knowledge of AUTOCAD 2D modelling would be an asset.
  • Good working knowledge of MICROSOFT Office Tools and Windows.
  • Understanding and comprehensive working knowledge of the current Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Knowledge of electrical heat tracing, cable tray and lighting design would be an asset.
  • Team-oriented, detailed oriented and a creative thinker.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • French and English (speaking and writing).
