Job SummaryReporting to the Director of Risk Management and Administration, the In-House Counsel (Lawyer) works closely with the Contracts team to support our various lines of business. This position is responsible for assisting with case law and litigation research and providing exceptional client support. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to balance competing priorities to achieve accurate and consistent work output while ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely fashion. A professional demeanor and attitude are key, as the successful candidate will be expected to communicate and work with all levels of management. This is a role where a strong working community is promoted, and a commitment to a proper work life balance is ensured.ResponsibilitiesReview, edit and manage Non-Disclosure Agreements;Assist in contractual review of construction contracts;Assist in contractual negotiationsAssist in managing litigation filesReviewing and editing credit applicationsCase law and legislation research as requiredManage contractual deadlines and notice requirements and contractual requirementsCoordinating with outside counsel through the General CounselAbility to work in a deadline driven environmentAbility to manage high volume of workloadNegotiating with customers and vendorsWilling to learn the specialty area of Construction LawTechnical RequirementsLLB or J.D. and/or Accreditation from Federation of Law Societies (if applicable)1-5 years of experience in any area of LawAll licensing fees and CPD requirements will be paid by OSCOCandidates with 2 to 5 years of experience will be considered idealBusiness Requirements Exceptional time management and organizational skillsDemonstrated experience setting and managing priorities with flexibility in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlinesCultural Requirements Strong interpersonal skills with confidence in communicating at all levels of the organizationAs a member of the OSCO Construction Group, we offer a comprehensive compensation package including health and dental coverage, life insurance, RRSP and tax-free savings account options.
