Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for a Human Resources Superintendent with a competitive salary of $127,000 - $171,000 dependent on experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity with an additional short-term incentive of 20%.

The purpose of this position is to bring support in leadership for HR team in order to support the operations of the Brucejack Mine with leading and/or coordinating activities related to core Human Resources policies, procedures and programs including but not limited to: employee relations, investigation and incident resolution, performance management, recruitment, workforce planning and other key functions of human resources.

The successful candidate will perform the following duties with safety being the number one priority:

  • Assist and advise departmental managers and employees on interpretation and administration of HR related policies, procedures and programs
  • Direct and coordinate site HR work activities relating to employment, compensation and employee relations
  • In collaboration with the (Vancouver) Regional HR Team, develop and manage internal/external training and recruitment programs, including workforce planning, and assist with activities as required.
  • Assist in the development of protocols to foster strong community relations and participate/deliver information sessions potential employment opportunities and/or training initiatives for communities at large
  • Supervise, coach and direct the activities of the Human Resources team
  • Assist with the development and implementation of all required/necessary human resource, employee and employee relations policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial employee and labour standards legislation (ie. Canadian Human Rights Acts, BC Employment Standards, Pay Equity Act)
  • Responsible for coordinating and delivering Human Resource training programs on site
  • Ongoing communication with the members of the corporate Human Resources team
  • Assist with the preparation of the budget
  • Other duties as required

This leadership position works directly with all members of the HR Team (including the (Vancouver)Regional HR Team), employees, site supervisors, mine management and the Brucejack Mine General Manager to ensure the timely execution of related HR activities, duties, responsibilities and accountabilities are handled in a safe and efficient manner.

About You:

As the successful candidate, you will have a Degree/Diploma in Human Resource Management with eight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience managing and delivering all aspects of Human resources administration, operations, recruitment and employee relations with a CHRP designation.

You will also possess:

  • Seasoned knowledge of HR principles, policies & procedures, and strong understanding of the Employment Standards Act and other related employment legislation
  • Strong analytic and organizational abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong demonstrated leadership and time management skills
  • Ability to make difficult decisions with the challenges of conflicting priorities
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Cross cultural awareness with an understanding and sensitivity of the challenges associated with differences in cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Able to work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening and criminal record check
