We support and encourage each other to thrivethrough followingthe footsteps of our ancestral history, as stewards of our lands and waters, while balancing our role inmodern daysociety.Position Summary:Reporting to the Executive Director, the Human Resources Manager will lead and facilitate the development of a highly effective workforce through effective management of diverse Human Resources functions. With a dedicated focus on positively impacting the lives of our community members, this position will provide comprehensive Human Resources support to all We Wai Kai departments on both the administration and the economic development side, which requires knowledge of the Canadian Labour Code and the BC Employment Standards Act. Key responsibilities include recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, policy administration, offboarding, and overall Human Resources support.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Overseeingthe recruitment and onboarding processes to ensure a seamless integration of new employees.
Developinga recruitment strategy to attract and retain high-performing individuals to continue to support rapid growth within the organization.
Workingclosely with the managers to manage and monitor employee performance to foster professional growth and development.
Conducting annual training needs analysis and recommending learning and development plans for individuals and the organizationas a whole.
Coordinatingand organizing ongoing training sessions to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
Developing, implementing, and maintaining We Wai Kai Human Resources policies and procedures forbothfederally and provincially regulated operations.
Stayingup to date, communicating and implementing legislative changes.
Ensuringthe thorough and timely completion of the onboarding process for all new hires.
Workingwith other departments to develop regular onboarding requirements for each new hire.
Guiding, managing and tracking the performance management processas well asongoing performance and employee relations matters.
Working with the benefits and payroll administrator to ensure the total compensation program (pay, benefits and related compensatory items) remains competitivein relation tolocal/provincial market conditions.
SupportingHealth and Safety efforts to maintain and enhance our safe and healthy work environment.
Developing offboarding strategies to ensure best practices are followed for a graceful separation during voluntary departures.
Developingeffective coaching and coaching management techniques to work through issues of concern, along with the involvement of others as appropriate.
Attendingand presenting at employee and management meetings.
Drafting briefing notes, discussion papers, policy procedures, andreports as required.
Performingother related duties as agreed upon.
Qualifications and Experience:A post-secondary degreewith a focuson human resources, business, or psychology.
3 – 7 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
Knowledge of First Nations history, cultures and traditions.
CPHR designation preferred.
Experience creating policies and processes.
In-depth knowledge of both provincial and federal labour legislation.
Exceptional knowledge and understanding of other related HR legislation.
Demonstrated open, participative management style with the ability to make tough decisions asthey arerequired.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion on all matters.
Benefits administration experience would be an asset.
Demonstratedability to foster learning & development of others through coaching, managing performance and mentoring to stretch and challenge others to develop and achieve new skills/competencies.
Demonstratedability to display emotional resilience andthe ability towithstand pressure on an ongoing basis.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
A clear criminal record check and a valid driver’s license are a condition of employment.
