Position Description


The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for leading and implementing all human resource initiatives in Western Canada. Responsibilities include developing and implementing policies, procedures, and programs related to employee relations, training and development, performance management, and talent management, as well as ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to employment.


Position Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing concerns, managing conflict, and conducting investigations
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, and conducting interviews
  • Lead employee training and development initiatives, including identifying training needs and facilitating training sessions
  • Manage employee performance evaluations and support career development planning
  • Administer employee benefits and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS system
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in HR
  • Collaborates with managers and employees to resolve employee relations issues, investigations, prepares corrective actions, facilitates involuntary terminations
  • Monitors employee relations throughout assigned area for development or in analyzing actual trends, issues and problems, and assists local management with addressing issues
  • Analyze data to include turnover/retention reporting headcount summaries, exit interview data, internal/external market data and provide recommendations
  • Provides assistance on leave administration and coordination
  • Assist in managing the labor relations and contract administration responsibilities including facilitating a partnership with the union bargaining committee, sitting at the table for labor contract negotiations, and administering 2nd and 3rd step grievances
  • Performs other related duties as required or requested



Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Human Resources or related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in human resources management
  • Willingness to travel to different locations (50%)
  • Previous experience in a leadership role, managing a team, and collaborating with cross-functional departments
  • Experience in labor relations, including contract negotiations and grievance resolution
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HR strategies aligned with business objectives
  • In-depth understanding of human resources principles, practices, and regulations
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle employee relations matters, investigations, and conflict resolution
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with overall business goals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze HR data and provide recommendations
  • Ability to lead and oversee recruitment processes, employee training, and development initiatives
