Job Description

The Human Resources Director plays a pivotal role in providing HR expertise to divisional leadership, steering the regional HR department, and ensuring the alignment of HR strategies with the overarching goals of the company.

Your day-to -day

  • Oversee a team of Business Partners and Coordinators;
  • Provide consultative HR and Labour Relations support to Executives and internal client groups, including the interpretation and administration of HR policies, programs, procedures and compliance with applicable statutes, regulations and collective bargain agreements;
  • Assist the Vice President of Human Resources with new acquisition analysis including review of due diligence documents;
  • Be responsible to chair negotiations for all Collective Agreements in their respective region;
  • Support divisional leaders in the creation of annual business plans and the on-going interaction with regional leadership, to ensure that HR planning and development will support the goals and direction of the business;
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify and understand their needs and effectively communicate and execute corporate HR programs within the region;
  • Assist and coach managers and supervisors to acquire skills and knowledge for effectively handling and resolving employee issues and managing within a unionized environment;
  • Manage relationships with various union and government officials;
  • Facilitate and support change management where required;
  • Develop internal HR communication materials specific to policies and procedures;
  • Manage and oversee the administration of multiple benefit and pension plans;
  • Prepare reports and analyze data from human resource information systems for information reporting and to support management decision-making.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or Industrial Relations;
  • CPHR or CIRC designation an asset;
  • 7+ years HR/Labour Relations experience, including 3+ years at a managerial level;
  • Strong leadership and problem solving abilities;
  • Proven negotiation, mediation, and analytical skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple parties, internal and external;
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize accordingly;
  • Ability to manage and execute in a fast paced, often ambiguous environment;
  • Team player and willing to mentor/coach where necessary;
  • Experience in both non-union and union environments;
  • Understanding and working knowledge of employment laws, statutes, and regulations, both provincial and federal.
