Director, Human Resources Position Overview

Belvika is currently seeking a Director, Human Resources to support all Human Resources functions for all Belvika facilities. This position will be based at the Mississauga location, located at 450 Export Blvd., Mississauga, Ontario, but must be able to travel to all facilities as required.

Position Overview: As the Director of Human Resources, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our people strategy and driving the strategic direction of our organization. You will lead our HR team in implementing initiatives that attract, develop, and retain top talent while fostering a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This position reports directly to the CEO and requires a dynamic individual with a strong background in human resources, preferably within the food or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage and provide leadership and guidance to the HR team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and excellence;
  2. Responsible for managing payroll and temporary agency relationships and ensuring compliance with legislative rules and regulations;
  3. Lead talent acquisition efforts to ensure the recruitment of top-tier candidates across all levels and functions, leveraging innovative sourcing techniques and fostering strong partnerships with internal stakeholders;
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, implement and manage compensation and benefits programs that attract and retain top talent while managing costs effectively;
  5. Lead employee relations efforts, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and Company policies;
  6. Partner with site managers and operations leaders to address workforce planning needs, optimize staffing levels, and drive operational excellence;
  7. Develop and execute a comprehensive human resources strategy aligned with the Company's overall objectives and growth plans;
  8. Manage and lead all internal and external human resource related audits;
  9. Manage onboarding programs to integrate new hires seamlessly into the organization, promoting engagement and productivity from day one;
  10. Drive and manage employee development initiatives, including performance management, training, and career pathing, to maximize individual potential and support succession planning;
  11. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment by championing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and providing resources and support to promote employee well-being;
  12. Develop and maintain, in conjunction with operations, a Health and Safety program that exceeds legislation requirements, including managing WSIB and long term disability claims;
  13. Anticipate and resolve potential human resource related litigation risks;
  14. Manage the Company’s employee service award program;
  15. Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and legislative changes affecting human resources, proactively recommending and implementing improvements to policies and procedures;
  16. All other duties as required.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with focus on Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • Minimum of 7-10 years in the HR field with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in human resources leadership roles, preferably within the food or CPG industry;
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, labour relations, and HR best practices;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategic HR initiatives that drive business results;
  • Proven track record of building high-performing teams and fostering a positive organizational culture;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization;
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights;
  • Experience with change management;
  • Multi-facility management experience;
  • Knowledge of Dayforce HRMS system or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of employee benefits programs.
