Position Summary:


As the Director of Human Resources, you will provide strategic leadership and direction for all HR functions across Canada. This role involves developing and executing HR strategies that drive organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and talent management. You will play a crucial role in shaping the company's culture, fostering a high-performance environment, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.



Roles & Responsibilities:


  • Develop and execute comprehensive HR strategies and initiatives that align with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Provide strategic guidance and counsel to senior management on HR-related matters, including organizational design, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Lead and oversee the recruitment and selection process for key leadership positions, ensuring the acquisition of top talent.
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives, including the development and implementation of programs that promote a positive work culture and enhance employee morale.
  • Oversee performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and career development planning.
  • In consultation with the VP of HR, implement compensation and benefits programs that attract, retain, and motivate employees.
  • Lead efforts to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, including monitoring changes in legislation and implementing necessary updates to HR policies and procedures.
  • Manage employee relations issues, investigations, and conflict resolution, providing guidance and support to managers and employees as needed.
  • Manage and implement training and development programs that enhance employee skills and competencies and support career growth.
  • Support HR analytics and reporting efforts, analyzing HR data to identify trends, measure HR effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Collaborate with other functional areas, such as Finance and Operations, to ensure alignment and integration of HR initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the HR team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and high performance.
  • Manage the labor relations and contract administration responsibilities including facilitating a partnership with the union bargaining committee, sitting at the table for labor contract negotiations, and administering step grievances.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a senior HR leadership role.
  • Willingness to travel to different locations (50%).
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to lead and inspire a high-performing HR team.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of developing and implementing HR strategies that drive business results.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, and regulations, with a focus on employment law compliance.
  • Experience leading organizational change initiatives and managing complex HR projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze HR data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and persuade senior leaders and drive change within the organization.
  • Experience in the environmental services industry or a similar field is preferred but not required.
