Job Description

BONUS: Upon hire, you shall receive a one-time signing bonus of $500 on the first pay date after your employment commences and should you continue your employment with the organization for another six months, you will be provided another lump sum amount of $500.

Under the leadership of the Director of Human Resources (DHR), the Human Resources Coordinator (HRC) is responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of the HR Department while maintaining compliance with applicable employment legislation, including the maintenance of the HRIS and learning system as well as administration of biweekly payroll, pension & benefit programs, leaves of absences (LOAs) and new hire onboarding.

YOUR ROLE

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for payroll, leaves of absences, pension & benefits and HRIS/learning system, preparing formal communication to employees, and consulting with legal when appropriate.
  • Responsible for payroll processing for the organization, including ROEs, T4s, year-end reconciliations, and communicating with the HRIS service provider ensuring compliance with established financial and legislative requirements.
  • Responsible for coordinating leave of absences and accommodation requests, overseeing the LTD claims management, providing assistance with return-to-work processes and communicating with external parties and internal managers or supervisors.
  • Administers the group benefits plan and the group registered retirement savings plan, communicating with employees in regards to program details or changes, as well as responding to employee questions.
  • Ensures employee HR records meet legislative and organization standards. Ensures employee information is up-to-date in the HR file and HRIS.
  • Compiles HR dashboards and ad-hoc reports, proactively delivering relevant HR metrics for managers to enable effective workforce management.

Requirements

Education & Experience :

  • Completion of a University degree or diploma in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a human resources generalist capacity.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation or working towards.
  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation or working towards.
  • Experience within the not-for-profit sector preferred.
  • Fluency in French is an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle, and the ability to travel.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Sound knowledge of employment, payroll, and related legislation and its application to the organization (Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively convey messaging and deliver training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills to confidentially handle sensitive situations with tact, empathy, respect, and professionalism at all times.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, and work effectively within a team and independently.
