Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide Leadership in promoting a safety culture by guiding, mentoring, educating, training, and motivating.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations, monitor compliance to policies and report on Health and Safety awareness, issues, and statistics.
- Conduct HSE inspections and audits of equipment and facility to make sure they meet regulatory compliance.
- Perform job site safety compliance inspections, including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports, and recommendations.
- Help with Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid, industry specific related issues, etc.
- Perform workplace visits, job observations and inspections with intent to coach and mentor.
- Audit safety performance, evaluate safety culture, and promote a well-functioning IRS.
- Inform Managers while recommending and working on strategies to improve safety culture.
- Promote proactive and leading Health and Safety procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Promote Occupational Health and Safety within the organization and develop a safer work environment.
- Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company health and safety program by all employees and subcontractors.
- Help contribute direct knowledge of health and safety programs to ensure improvement.
Knowledge/ Skill Requirements:
- Working knowledge of Health and safety principles, practices, and legislation.
- 3-5 years experience in Health & Safety - Preferably in mining.
- Experience working shutdowns and familiar with confined space work.
- Must have experience in Mining, Civil and/or Industrial Construction environment, health, and safety.
- Must be familiar with mining terminology.
- Ability to produce reports, good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- NCSO certificate - Preferred.
