Job Description

Job Title: Health and Safety Manager Location: Toronto, ON, Canada Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum (Based on Experience) Job Summary: The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment on all construction sites. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction safety management, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to risk management. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety programs and policies in compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and internal policies. Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions. Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures. Provide health and safety training and awareness programs for all employees, including new hires and subcontractors. Ensure proper use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) on all sites. Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and stakeholders regarding health and safety matters. Maintain and update all health and safety documentation, including policies, procedures, training records, and incident reports. Lead health and safety meetings and toolbox talks to promote a safety-first culture. Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to integrate safety into all aspects of project planning and execution. Monitor and analyze health and safety performance metrics, providing regular reports to senior management. Stay current with industry best practices and legislative changes to continuously improve health and safety standards. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role within the construction industry. Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Safety Officer (CSO), or equivalent certification preferred. In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices in the construction industry. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and educate employees at all levels. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
