This team, in partnership with all the Leadership, is committed to the transformation of our business. Be part of the team that takes us across the finish line.Reporting to VP H&S as our new Manager, you will be accountable for ensuring overall compliance and safety for our company includingDuties and Responsibilities:Seek continuous improvement by ensuring that regular inspections, hazard analyses, risk assessments, and audits are conducted.Proactively identify safety issues and work with leadership to implement problem-solving strategies. Initiate and conduct trend analysis, provide findings, solutions, coaching, and communicate shared learnings.Utilize incident and root cause analysis to provide direction and recommendations on how to mitigate/control losses and foster a proactive safety culture.Provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to managers, supervisors, and employees in safety and incident prevention activities.Generate and submit all internal and external reports, reviews, and other documentation as required. Administer and maintain incident reporting/recording systems to ensure compliance with company and legislative requirements.Represent the company to external auditors and enforcement authorities.Provide and assist with the coordination of orientation, education, and training to managers, supervisors, employees, and the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, and new hires on Occupational Health and Safety practices, legislation, and industry changes.Administer and maintain communications with WSIB including timely reporting of injuries, disability management support, and return-to-work placements.Ensure all H&S policies, procedures, and practices meet or exceed legal, company, and customer requirements including monitoring changes to regulation, assessing these changes for business impact, and communicating necessary procedural changes to internal stakeholders accordingly.Reinforce company values and maintain positive relations with employees, management, and external enforcement agencies.Promote the impact of programs on employee health and productivity.Our ideal candidate will have a bias to action and take an approach of employee education rather than discipline and collaboration rather than unilateral actions. Since our teams are important to us, we seek someone with a strong aptitude for developing relationships, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to work in teams and to lead projects.You will have a strong background and understanding of Health and Safety management system designs and processes, such as:The Degree/Diploma in H&S or related field,Minimum 3-5 years related experience with coordinating and managing a safety program for a medium to large manufacturing employer,ISO 45001:2018 Occupational health and safety management systems,CSA Z1000-14 Occupational health and safety management,Experience in identifying key OHS performance indicators (KPI’s) and experience with facilitation of machine guarding, risk, and severity hazard assessments.At Upper Crust, we are committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and accessible environment, where all employees are valued and supported.
