They work as trusted partners, creating better solutions and experiences for their customers, communities, and colleagues.Overview:The Health & Safety Advisor will help to support the regional Health & Safety Manager and regional business team in implementation of health and safety management systems and processes. In this role, you will provide health and safety guidance to the operations to help the region comply with Lafarge Group Standards, Country level policies, and jurisdictional regulations. Serving as a strategic business partner, you will provide technical subject matter expertise and guidance on hazard recognition and risk mitigation controls through active engagement with front line leaders and workers. This role works out of our Surrey, BC office.Responsibilities:Market Area & Product Line Accountability:Provide direct health and safety coaching to the operational site level leadership, and safety committee representatives and embedded safety personnelAssist with facilitation and coordination of training including annual startups, supervisor seminars, visual personal commitment, Boots on the Ground etc.Perform risk assessments and development of safe work procedures for regional and country purposesProvide guidance and support to operations to meet OHS, country and Group expectationsAssists with facilitation of serious investigations including; recordable injuries, near misses, critical incidents etc.Assist to accompany and comply with OHS inspections and potential ordersPlan, coordinate, and conduct COR audits to ensure annual rebate for the regionSupport the regional operations in preparation for Group HSEMS audits and develop action plans for continuous improvementParticipate in North America HSEMS audits identifying compliance gaps against Group health and safety standardsSupport HS Manager and regional operations in development and implementation of H&S priorities, guidance documents, key lessons learned, best practices, policies etc.Support and guide the regional operations in claim management and injury preventionSupport HS Manager in implementation of both country and regional HSE-IP objectivesAssist with utilization of internal reporting tools to meet country reporting requirementsSupport regional operations in implementation and maintenance of programs such as SiteDocs, iCare, Avetta etc.Assist to develop and share regional communications to all stakeholders including; key lessons, best practices, alerts, KPIs etc.Relationships with Other Jobs:Collaborate with the WCAN HS Team and Head of Health & Safety in determining Country priorities and action plansDevelop and maintain positive and constructive relationships with local regulatory agenciesEngage with front line leadership and workers through being present in the field (minimum of 8 hours per week)Collaborate with other regional functional supports and business partners such as Human Resources, Procurement, and EnvironmentDimensions:HS expert for the regional product line eg. Cement, RMX, Aggregate, Concrete Products, Construction etc.Qualification:Education:Post-secondary certification (degree, diploma, certificate) in Occupational Health & Safety is preferredCertification: CRSP preferred, CSO or NCSO is requiredExperience:3-5 years working experience as a health & safety professional.
