Job Description

Peninsula Construction,a division ofRSG International is an Ontario based construction company first established in the Niagara area in 1980. Starting as a fencing company, Peninsula Construction has grown into one of the prominent Roadside Safety Product Installation Providers servicing municipalities, government agencies and general contractors across Ontario.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Health and Safety Coordinator, looks to ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements. They will help develop and implement various safety programs and perform safety inspections and audits.
Responsibilities

  • Participate and support as needed in investigations and accident analysis.
  • Actively participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
  • Coordinate Monthly Inspections of Emergency Equipment in trucks (Fire Extinguishers, First Aid Kits, Naloxone Kits, Spill Kits), using report from Administration.
  • Manage First Aid, PPE, and Health & Safety Inventory.
  • Develop and distribute Safety Talks on a weekly basis.
  • Develop and maintain Physical Demands Analysis.
  • Develop and maintain Hazard Assessments, Safe Job Procedures and Safe Work Practices.
  • Provides management with advice, communication and education on H&S procedures including written safe work procedures, job hazard assessments.
  • Participates in Safety Orientation Training for new hires, including adding user profile to internal systems, onsite training, review of procedures, and facility tours.
  • Assist in maintaining H&S Training matrix and ensure all required training is completed. Schedule additional and/or refresher training as needed.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation, organization, and administration of Spring Startup annually, Year End Event annually, and other safety meetings as required.
  • Participates in Ministry of Labour inspections, investigations, and reports in conjunction with the other members of the Health and Safety department and appropriate Joint Health & Safety Committee members.
  • Provide Internal Audit Support
  • Visit active project sites to assess ongoing safe work conditions to ensure compliance. This will include sites at night as required.
  • Conduct Pre-Job assessments on large jobs/General Contracted jobs as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field, or equivalent related professional experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role preferred.
  • NCSO designation, or in progress is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Outlook, Work, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
