Your Role

As a member of the Line Management Executive Team, you are responsible for the leadership and execution of road logistics operations within Canada. This function will encompass ensuring business performance, growth of our market share, and a positive experience for our employees and customers alike. You will report to the National Manager.

Your Responsibilities

Market Potential:

  • Lead the business strategy, including product and solution strategies for Road Logistics for Canada
  • Identify and develop market development opportunities and grow market share including M&A opportunities
  • Accountable for the collaboration of telesales, Field sales, CCR’s and the key account team in alignment with general management and sales management to manage resources to develop, acquire and retain business
  • Drive strategic customer reviews and RFQ meetings with Sales
  • Responsible for the Road Logistics Kuehne+Nagel brand in Canada

Business Performance:

  • Focus ondeliveringconsistent and high qualityservicesfor the business unit in Canada
  • Deliveroperational service standards,ensure fast decision making andexecution, and accountable for financialperformance
  • Responsible for budgets, RFC and annual target setting process as well as ongoing growth of gross profit and NPII for the Country
  • Comply with all finance processes, including FSL requirements and budget
  • Monitor and pro-actively manage Finance KPIs, including billing, profit-loss targets, accounts receivables,
  • Monitors and influences productivity
  • Influences, determines and implements market pricing strategy
  • Ensures consistent data quality

Kuehne+Nagel Experience:

  • Supports the customer relationship for business unit customers in Canada
  • Collaborate with general management to ensure positive customer service and customer retention and accountable for service delivery levels consistently meeting and exceeding expectations across Canada
  • Responsible to ensure that metrics and KPI's are met; leads quarterly business reviews for top Canadian customers
  • Implements processes/programs and initiatives to improve customer processes
  • Leads all aspects of the employee experience; as measured by employee net promoter score and Great Places to Work surveys
  • Drives employee engagement and implements programs/initiatives to (further) enhance the employee experience
  • Responsible for talent management and succession planning for respective business unit
  • Ensures proper training for managers and employees, including critical business elements of employee onboarding
  • Responsible for clear communication within business unit and strong cross collaboration with other business units and functional units

Canadian Management Team:

  • Participates as a member of the Canadian Line Management Team
  • Ensures the implementation of all relevant policies/programs/initiatives
  • Works with LMM on different National Projects

Governance:

  • Governance and compliance responsibility
  • Ensures compliance with all health & safety, quality, security, environmental, legal and regulatory requirements, company policies and procedures, industry standards, etc.
  • Ensures all vendors and suppliers are qualified in accordance with company practices and policies
  • Leads rates negotiations
  • Builds relationships, proactively communicates, resolves issues
  • Monitors regularly performance against KPI's and contractual agreements

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Degree/diploma in International Business, Trade, Logistics or alternative
  • 10+ years of experience in the Freight Forwarding, Logistics and/or Transportation industry specifically with international freight operations within Sea, Air, Road Logistics and Customs Brokerage
  • 7+ years of experience in leadership and people management roles - management of diverse and international teams is an asset
  • 7+ years of experience in a role with focus on business development and customer experience excellence
  • You have a strong customer presence and brand as a trusted leader and partner in the industry
  • You are a motivating leader with a proven track record for talent development
