Job Description

The Hardware team at Fortinet is seeking a hardware developer who will contribute to the development of special designed computers with a massive amount of processing power that provide protection against cyber threats.

In this position, you will be responsible for all phases of product development, including research and development, design and implementation of cutting-edge high and low speed electronics, as well as release to manufacturing of cyber security computer hardware and Ethernet switches. It's a great opportunity to challenge yourself with designing high-end electronics products if you have strong experience in electronics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Electronic circuit design – including analog, digital, and logic circuit design, switching and linear power supply design, material and component selection.
  • Research on new technologies and methods that can be used in future product generations
  • Simulation of high/low frequency electronic circuits for design validation
  • Layout and PCB design – including stack-up design, board material selection, routing, review of the designed PCBs.
  • Analyze and resolve the design issues in the prototype stage to meet all specification requirements and delivery time to market.
  • Validate performance, reliability, and compliance with standards through lab testing.


Job Skills Required:

  • Knowledge in designing, analyzing and reviewing high and low frequency electronic circuits
  • Experienced in working with schematic and PCB design tools, particularly Cadence Orcad and Allegro
  • In possession of laboratory and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of safety agency requirements and how to design for compliance is an asset
  • Being able to conduct research on new technologies and solutions
  • Communicate effectively with teams and vendors
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and independent

Educational Requirements:

  • PhD/Master degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $77,000- $105,000 annually.  Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level.  Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
