They work as trusted partners, creating better solutions and experiences for their customers, communities, and colleagues.Overview Inspects, maintains, and operates the RMX plant and associated equipment. Performs all activities necessary to ensure efficient batching, material handling, and yard duties. Follows and ensures full compliance with LafargeHolcim Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies, as well as WorkSafe BC Regulations. The successful applicant(s) for this position must work well in a team environment, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and continuously improve their own performance as well as the performance of the depot operations and crew. The Plant Operator must have the competencies to rotate through the previous Batch Man, Loader Operator, and Yardman functions. Structure: This position reports directly to the Plant Manager of Harbour Readymix Concrete Plant with additional line responsibilities to local Managers. Responsibilities: The successful candidate(s) shall be willing and able to perform all the duties previously executed by the Batch, Yard, and Loader roles. The following is not an exhaustive list of all duties required of this job; Plant startup Batch concrete in a timely and efficient manner using the “Command Batch System”. Maintain quality levels as per Lafarge’s requirements, BCRMCA and CSA A23.1-04 standards. Communicate with QC/QA personnel regarding all raw material, admixture, and value added product issues. Monitor mobile radio and truck location/status for information regarding slumps of previously batched concrete or test results from job-sites – adjust mixes as necessary to conform to specifications. Plan for typical and specialty inventory requirements (powders, aggregates, KIM, etc.) to ensure adequate raw material is available when required. Monitor all inventory levels daily and order products as required. Perform monthly inventory counts and complete all other necessary month end reports. Complete the Daily, Weekly and Monthly Plant Maintenance Record Book and report relevant issues to maintenance and/or supervisory personnel as appropriate. Perform regular plant preventative maintenance checks and activities Maintain and repair concrete batch plant machinery and equipment Perform daily housekeeping, safety compliance walk arounds, and plant inspections (repair and/or report findings to maintenance/supervisory personnel as appropriate). Keep the plant (and surrounding batch plant areas including offices) and yard (including block area) clean and orderly. Operate Loader, Tele-handler, and Bobcat as required (plant feeding, block production, yard cleaning, etc.) Manage and maintain yard water systems to ensure environmental compliance and efficient slurry management. Understand, promote, and aid whenever possible with the improvement of Lafarge Health & Safety and Environmental practices, policies, and efficiencies. Shut down and secure the plant and yard at the end of each shift. Perform other duties as required. Maintain and repair concrete batch plant machinery and equipment Qualification: Qualified Loader/Tele-handler/Skid Steer Operator. Confined Space Working at Heights. Level 2 First Aid would be an asset. Hand and Power Tool Safety Training. Good knowledge of Windows Operating system and general computer skills. A level of fitness sufficient to perform all the required duties. Successfully pass all LafargeHolcim pre-employment examinations. Superior work ethic and problem solving skills and a “Safety First” mentality in all areas of the workplace. Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot operational problems in a timely fashion. Superior judgment and the ability to fix minor problems locally while referring major issues to appropriate maintenance and supervisory personnel. Comfortable with multi-tasking and working in a high stress environments. Recognition of construction and concrete industries as it pertains to a sense of urgency and the need to work long hours as well as some Saturdays.
