Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Strong background and experience in upland and wetland vegetation;
  • Identification and classification of Alberta wetlands;
  • Knowledge of wetland soils;
  • Support or lead vegetation field work and assessments involving community characterization, ecosite classification, weed assessments, vegetation management plans, restoration/planting plants, and vegetation reclamation assessments;
  • Support or lead wetland field work and assessments involving desktop and field wetland identification and delineation, wetland classification, shallow groundwater monitoring, water quality monitoring, wetland impact assessments and mitigation plans including WAIFs and WAIRs, and wetland reclamation assessments;
  • Author vegetation and wetland technical reports, workplans, and proposals;
  • Possess the wetland and vegetation technical skills and regulatory knowledge for various projects;
  • Data entry and analysis;
  • Client management, including communication through verbal and written correspondence;
  • Responsible for personal safety and following safe working practices according to Worley occupational health and safety procedures
  • Work independently, or as part of multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Assist, guide, or mentor less experienced team members to develop their technical and project skills;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients; and
  • Travel as required for various field programs.

Qualifications - Internal

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in wetland or botanical science, environmental resource management, or equivalent experience;
  • Professional Biologist or ability to obtain P.Biol and/or R.P.Bio designation;
  • Authenticating Professional under the Alberta Wetland Policy, or ability to obtain;
  • Over ten years (Senior) or approximately 4-8 years (Intermediate) of experience working in vegetation and wetland ecology consulting;
  • Experience conducting vegetation and wetland surveys;
  • Excellent communication, organization and time management skills;
  • Professional experience in industries such as pipelines, upstream/downstream oil and gas facilities, mining, infrastructure, and renewable energies would be an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Strong technical writing skills;
  • Self-starter and flexible team player;
  • Ability to work within a team environment;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
