Are you a dynamic and experienced Geotechnical Engineer/EIT looking for an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact? We are seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Geotechnical Engineer/EIT, focused on helping to manage the construction and performance of large earthwork structures at a major oil sands operator in Fort McMurray.This role presents a unique chance to contribute to cutting-edge projects, ensuring the highest standards of safety, performance, and efficiency, with a huge opportunity for growth.Key Responsibilities:Support Site Operations:Assess and document design change requests, short-range planning design, freeboard considerations, stockpile/ramp/road design, specification deviation requests, and material testing scopes to support smooth site operations.Review and Document Construction Activities:Evaluate and document construction activities on designated structures, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and specifications.Manage Geotechnical Instrumentation Program:Support geotechnical instrumentation programs, including planning, threshold determination, and data review for optimal project performance.Field Tours and Engineering Inspections:Conduct regular field tours to verify that structures are being constructed and operated in accordance with design plans.Perform comprehensive engineering inspections to guarantee the integrity of designated structures.Support Routine Reporting:Prepare detailed Annual Construction and Performance Reports; Operations, Surveillance, and Maintenance Manuals; Emergency Report Plans; and Dam Safety Reviews.Create and manage engaging presentations to highlight key findings and recommendations for cross-functional team meetings and review boards.Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field. 2-10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering (role responsibilities are scalable)Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation is preferred, but not required.Must be able to register with APEGAStrong drive for engagement, communication, and improving technical skills will help you stand out in this roleIf you're ready for a challenging role that offers growth opportunities and the chance to make a real impact, apply now!
