Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and compliant construction and performance of tailings structures and embankments? We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Geotechnical Engineer or EIT, providing crucial engineering support to a Geotechnical Engineer-of-Record (EOR) and their team in-office at Calgary, AB.This is an exciting opportunity to apply your skills and learn more about tailings structure management as you progress your geotechnical engineering career.Key Responsibilities:Geotechnical Engineering Support:Collaborate closely with the Geotechnical Engineer-of-Record (EOR) to maintain the safe construction and management of the tailings facility in accordance with the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) Dam Safety Directive and the client's governance systems.Prepare and provide Mine Operations with professional recommendations to address construction-related, operational, or regulatory concerns, ensuring a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.Ensure compliance with with design specifications, operational safety, and industry-standard mining regulations.Prepare regulatory reports and documentation under the oversight of the Engineer-of-Record.Performance Objective Oversight:Ensure compliance with critical performance objectives during construction, operation, and closure activities of the tailings facility.Conduct review and evaluation of geotechnical performance, including analysis of incoming data from field instrumentation and visual inspections.Interdisciplinary Collaboration:Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with Design Engineers, Resident Geotechnical Engineers, Engineers-of-Record, Mine and Tailings Planners, Mine Operations, and Field Services to optimize tailings facility operationsRoutine Site Investigations:Facilitate and support routine site investigations, including drilling and instrumentation installation, to gather essential data for informed decision-making.Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.2-10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering (role responsibilities are scalable)Professional Engineering (P.Eng) Designation is preferredMust be able to register under APEGAJoin us in a role that offers a unique blend of technical expertise, collaborative teamwork, and a commitment to excellence in tailings facility and embankment management.
