Job Description

We are world class organization seeking a General Manager for our manufacturing facility near Edmonton, Canada. This is an exciting opportunity, and you will be part of a team known for its industry leading talent and unmatched commitment to our customer’s success. This position reports to the President and will have full P&L responsibility for the site. The successful candidate will have 15 years of experience in a similar role and will be able to adapt to a dynamic, customer oriented service environment. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining a productive work environment for all employees, and meeting or exceeding performance goals for the long term sustainability of the company. Previous experience with rotating equipment is required. In addition to the operational, financial, and leadership aspects of managing this business, the position will also work with the senior management team to develop and implement corporate initiatives, with particular focus in the area of process improvements, while maintaining commitment to quality, customer satisfaction and safety. KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: · Provide leadership and direction to the business to ensure the annual business plan, including P&L and balance sheet objectives are achieved. · Aftermarket knowledge rotating equipment and supportive manufacturing methods and techniques. · Actively partner with leadership, thereby having a strong influence on the operations and strategy of the team. · Establish and lead a culture focused on safety through the execution of safety planning and rigorous use of safety metrics. · Attract, identify, develop, and retain organization talent. This includes supporting all facets of hiring, performance management, succession planning, and employee learning and development. · Drive a high-performance culture by cascading objectives to all direct reports, ensuring all employees have objectives and accountabilities recorded on performance management forms. · Continuously evaluate the business structure and staffing levels to ensure the business resources reflect current market conditions and demand for services. Establish contingency plans to enable effective and efficient deployment as necessary. · Through partnership with the outside sales group both influence and enable bookings growth. · Drive growth in new geographic markets while growing market share in our traditional markets. Implement/deploy sales growth initiatives and marketing strategies. · Interface with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to drive our service-driven approach. · Develop and implement process improvements, which continuously improve on-time delivery and reduce operating and production costs. · Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to develop and lead effectively within a team. · Be able to discuss, define, and improve production issues, production bottlenecks to meet customer’s delivery. · Successful track record of handling P&L responsibility. · Successful detailed approach to key performance indicators (ex: sales targets, monthly financial statements, quality of services and products for customers and customer feedback). · Great leadership skills that will inspire others. Ability to develop and lead effectively within a team. · Demonstrated ability and willingness to lead change and implement process management methods (ex: Six Sigma, LEAN Manufacturing). · Excellent customer service and negotiating skills. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · Mechanical Engineering or Journeyman Machinist / Millwright education and/or technical discipline. · 15 years hands on leadership experience in the service and repair industry of capital equipment. · Strong cost center management experience. · Industry experience involving pumps and/or pump related equipment, machining, or fabrication. · Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience managing profit/loss. · Demonstrated leadership ability in a manufacturing environment, ability to delegate effectively in a team environment, to mentor and develop others and have a high level of collaboration and interaction with the sales team. · Good communication skills with all employees and executive management.
