Job Description

The Executive Director supports the internal management team and provides strong leadership while coordinating all program matters at the Barrie Bayside Mission Centre
  • Will have an Undergraduate University degree (e.g. MSW, B.A., B.Sc.)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of prior related experience working with marginalized clientele in a social services setting, including experience in Human Resources, social services management, budgetary and property responsibilities, financial management, business management, union work environment
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license, own vehicle and insurance, provide a driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Extensive related senior management experience in social services, including centre operations, and a proven ability to direct programs in a complex environment
  • Strong management and supervisory skills and experience
  • Knowledge of Human Resource Management and Financial Management
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit organizations
  • Knowledge of all federal and provincial legislation including employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, etc.
  • Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization

  • Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry is required
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
