SUMMARY Reporting to the Head of Freight Management in the Transportation Group, the Freight Operations Manager role is a newly created position designed to manage the day-to-day functions of the Freight Management operations team, while supporting departmental growth and continuous improvement. This role acts as a key customer liaison while supporting operations and carrier development to identify network optimization opportunities. In addition, the successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that acts as a business partner to ensure goals and results are aligned across the group. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports through coaching, supporting, and professional development activities; establish annual performance objectives and conduct performance assessments Research and roll out more efficient ways of working, including improved SOP’s, workflows, and processes. Assist in the development of continuous improvement initiatives for the freight management business and monitor progress toward project milestones. Engage with various levels of management, clients, and stakeholders; directing and/or facilitating cross-functional meetings to share information and identify key needs and areas for improvement to enhance our customers’ experience and service offerings. Work with carrier development and assist in Request for Proposals (RFPs) for new business initiatives. Ensure that business unit functional processes and organization optimize and enhance the BY/TMS and other IT systems capabilities Develop and effectively manage the relationships with site management teams, warehousing operations, ensuring discipline and accountability when necessary. Oversee daily management of customer freight and volumes within the Metro network through a team of logistics coordinators. Participates in both client and carrier MBR and/or QBR as required. Assist the Head of Freight Management with the budgeting and forecasting process for both corporate and customer budgets Other duties as assigned. EXPEREINCE 5+ years Management experience in 3PLTransportation field; experience with an asset-based carrier is desirable. Highly knowledgeable in software systems, specifically TMS, Microsoft Office, and transport routing software. Reasonable knowledge of EDI/API technology as it relates to client & carrier integration. Must be able to develop creative solutions to unstructured business problems and influence others through both oral presentations and written documentation Self-motivated and thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Able to work autonomously on an ongoing basis.
