Position Summary:The Financial Manager is a full-time. professional, and permanent position. Under the direct supervision on the Executive Director, the Financial Manager oversees the day-to-day activities of the financial operation and is responsible for the maintenance of the financial records for Shibogama First Nations Council. The Financial Manager will be part of the management team working towards fulfilling the vision and mission of Shibogama First Nations Council mandate and policies.Duties & Responsibilities:Responsible for all accounting functions and ensuring all internal controls are implemented and maintained.Implement financial procedures pertaining to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, perform bank reconciliations and manage cash flow.Maintain financial records for the Shibogama First Nations Council as required for Audit Reporting.Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports on the financial activities of individual projects and programs in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Procedures.Prepare and provide complete financial statements to ensure correctness of all entries, transfers, balances, and other financial information and accounting policies and procedures.Ensure all statutory requirements of the organization are met and all supporting information is documented and maintained for all financial transactions.Assist each Program Manager with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and review of six-month budgets.Assist staff with the preparation of budgets for the funding applications.Ensure special projects and assignments are in compliance with the financial policy and have the approval of the Chiefs by resolution.Provide quarterly financial statements for each program and all projects.Ensure all reporting requirements of the funding agreements of each program and projects are submitted according to the schedule.Work with Travel and Payables Clerk on the preparation of all payroll functions so that the employees are paid in a timely manner.Administer the Canada Life Benefits and Pension Plans.Ensure that all statutory and benefits remittances are processed and submitted on time.Issue annual T4’s and any ROE’s required in a timely manner.Ensure all employee’s submit their approved leave forms for vacation, sick leave, and other leaves as per the SFNC policies.Provide assistance, when requested, to community Finance clerks regarding payroll.Assist the Executive Director with financial reporting as required for the Chiefs meetings and provide advice to support the decision-making process.Perform other duties as may be assigned from time-to-time by the Executive Director.Qualifications:Recognized professional designation in accounting is preferred or an equivalent education and experience.Minimum of three (3) years prior experience at a senior level in financial and data management.Working knowledge of federal and provincial legislation and regulations regarding employer and employee matters.An understanding of General Accepted Accounting Procedures and Audit Standards.Knowledge of computerized management information systems, particularly Adagio Accounting Program.Proficient written communication skills and good organizational skills.Must be self-motivated, innovative, and proactive.Ability to prepare narrative financial reports for each program and provide for a comprehensive financial position of the organization.Review and prepare financial and human resources policy and procedures.Appreciate and respect of Indigenous views, cultures and values.Salary: Negotiable based on education and experience.We wish to thank you in advance all those who submit applications.
