Here’s the opportunity: Financial Analyst

As the Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting the Finance & Loans team to produce clean audit results and ensure that compliance requirements are met. You will report to the Director, Finance and work closely with the Finance and Loans teams and any other Futurpreneur teams.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Toronto, ON. The incumbent will be working on our hybrid work model (minimum 2 days in the office).

What you will do:

Financial analysis – 80%

  • Evaluate financial risks, prepare financial forecasts, financing scenarios and other documents concerning capital management, and write reports and recommendations
  • Coordinate the preparation of internal financial reports according to a well-established accounting cycle
  • Manage and process employee expense reports and accounts payable, ensuring timely payments and accurate tax reporting.
  • Prepare the quarterly, year-end reports and support the team with the external audit
  • Create and update a continuous financial planning & analysis for costs by programs (Indigenous program, Black Entrepreneur Startup Program, etc.), provinces and departments
  • Work on various monthly reporting and enhanced budget tracking initiatives. Provide teams with monthly information about how they’re tracking against their approved budget
  • Measure KPIs and create reporting to the funder for programs
  • Track KPIs for loan performance, loan losses by industry, province, programs and credit scores
  • Develop demographics information for disbursed Young Entrepreneurs (YEs)
  • Develop various financial reports and produce analyzes to support management decision-making
  • Oversee regulatory obligations and ensure compliance
  • Develop and maintain financial policies
  • Produce financial reports requested by our funders
  • Plan short- and long-term cash flows and assess financial performance
  • Develop, implement and use tools for managing and analyzing financial portfolio
  • Prepare a regular risk profile for debt portfolios
  • Assist in preparing operating and investment budgets
  • Support the development of project proposal budgets, provide analysis on project expenditure
  • Investigate and provide risk mitigation
  • Recommend improvements and put in place new efficient and innovative processes
  • Support the finance and loans team during systems implementation
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as required

Loan Analysis – 20%

  • Reporting on industry (segment) data for loan and mentoring applications and loan disbursements 
  • Prepare trend analysis and tracking of outstanding compliance conditions
  • Prepare analysis to find median processing days (applied to disbursed) 
  • Analyze applications, disbursements, and loan performance by program/segment data in co-relation with credit scores and credit matrix

What you will have:

  • Relevant experience may include education with a focus in Accounting, Statistics, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or equivalent hands-on career experience
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation will be an asset (or working towards CPA/CFA designation)
  • 3+ years of experience in a finance administration and reconciliation role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting standards for NPOs
  • Good knowledge of federal and provincial laws
  • Advance level Excel skills, including dynamic spreadsheets and pivot tables, intermediate level skills with other MS Office software
  • Proven success working pro actively both independently and as part of a team
  • Track record of contributing ideas and implementing process improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in French is considered an asset but not required
  • Ability to analyze and make recommendations
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Demonstrate rigor, attention to detail and a sense of ethics
