P&H Milling

P&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company. The P&H Milling Group sources wheat from Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada to produce quality flour and cereal products. The lineup includes hard red spring wheat flour for breads and other bakery products, soft winter wheat flour for cakes and cookies, as well as semolina flour for pasta, organic flour, and atta flour for chappati. In our specialty milling operation in Saskatoon, we also mill pea fractions.

From its mills in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Acton, Hanover, Hamilton, and Cambridge, Ontario; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Lethbridge, Alberta, the P&H Milling Group supplies flour to customers throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries.

Your Role

As a Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting detailed financial analysis, providing insightful assessments of financial operations, and assisting in the accurate and timely preparation of reports and statements. Your role will be pivotal in supporting financial operations, encompassing tasks such as month-end closing, inventory reporting, and preparing monthly journal entries.

Day to Day

  • Monthly Journal Entries and Reconciliations: Prepare and process monthly journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Validation of Reports: Collaborate with team members to ensure the accuracy of monthly reports, investigating and resolving any discrepancies or unusual items.
  • ERP Project Support: Work with the Finance team to gather requirements and deliverables for the ERP project, both during the current state and post-implementation phases.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to process improvement initiatives and the implementation of new financial procedures.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to gather financial information and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Documentation and Standardization: Identify opportunities for improvement and ensure that standard procedures are properly documented.
  • Ad-Hoc Tasks: Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in financial analysis or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Financial Reporting, Inventory Costing, and Accounting.
  • Excellent analytical skills, communication abilities, and teamwork.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide creative solutions.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and quickly learn new processes.
