Cowan Insurance Group is looking for a highly motivated Financial Advisor to join our team! Reporting to the Director, Wealth Management, you will be an integral member of our wealth management team responsible for deepening and broadening new and existing client relationships from an assigned block of business, in collaboration with associates in wealth management and other lines of businesses. You will be a key contributor to Cowan’s growth strategy and its strong sales culture, through the prospecting of new clients, by organically growing new business in the Wealth Management team. You’re innovative and entrepreneurial who focuses on retaining and growing a financial advisory practice, with an unbiased approach to products and solutions. You’re a relationship builder who is good at striking a meaningful conversation with a client, industry partner or colleague. You’re a problem solver who offers unique, holistic financial planning solutions to meet your clients’ complex needs.

What you will do:

  • Develop and build relationships with existing and new clients as well as internal and external referral sources and centers-of-influence
  • Develop an understanding of each client’s needs using a holistic planning approach to identify, recommend and implement the most suitable financial solutions
  • Proactively sourcing new business, managing clients, and ultimately growing a solid client base 
  • Understand and adhere to all regulatory and compliance operating standards 

What you will bring:

  • Minimum of 10 years previous hands-on investment and financial planning experience
  • Proficient in using financial planning software
  • Meet all provincial licensing requirements including continuing education requirements 
  • University Degree/College Diploma
  • Professional Designations (ie: CFP, CIM, CLU) or working towards
  • You’re a self-motivated, people-oriented individual with a passion for helping people with their short- mid and long-term financial planning needs
  • You have a track record of building and growing a profitable financial advisory practice 
  • You love networking in community and industry association events
  • Ability to grow the business in a sales/business development capacity
  • Excellent organizational, negotiation, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and CRM
  • Life License is an asset, not required
