About the role
As ATB's next Finance Specialist, ASFI Regulatory Reporting, this role is a key team member supporting the accurate, complete and timely production of regulatory reports.
The ideal candidate, reporting to the Managing Director, ASFI Regulatory Reporting, will have financial or regulatory reporting experience and a strong desire to focus on process improvement. This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven role that requires superb organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and strong ability to multitask. With a cross-functional mindset, you will collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders to meet both our current and future regulatory reporting obligations.
Accountabilities

  • Drives the production of accurate regulatory and management reporting within prescribed timelines and supports analysis of financial results that includes providing regulatory reporting expertise to business partners and developers
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to improve regulatory reporting policy, maintain and organize report specifications and procedures, and ensure strong governance and controls for regulatory reporting activities in accordance with ATB standards
  • Responsible for staying up-to-date with regulatory requirements, acting as a translator to relevant stakeholders and supporting the necessary changes to process and reporting requirements
  • Participates in the design and implementation of new reports, including coordinating subject matter experts acceptance testing and planning
  • Ad hoc analysis - Provides specialized support to investigate and resolve complex issues escalated by the Working Group or management
  • Support or drive other reporting functions as needed
Skills, experience & requirements
  • University Degree (e.g. bachelor, masters) in Business, Accounting or Finance (or equivalent)
  • 5 - 7 years of comparable experience (financial industry or regulatory reporting experience preferred) in a complex environment
  • Accounting designation preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of business rules, processes and policies
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to juggle multiple priorities
  • Driven by curiosity and a passion for learning
  • Strong verbal & communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple teams of varied disciplines
  • Adaptable, agile, innovative mindset with a proactive approach to continuous improvement
  • Strong ability to critically evaluate financial information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile variances.
  • Detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to zoom-out and apply big picture thinking to complex data and reporting.
  • Ability to independently diagnose discrepancies or issues, proposing solutions to problems and, leveraging business and strategic insights, recommend a course of action to reporting managers and team members
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency with technology (e.g. Tableau, SAP), cloud platforms, and large data sets (SQL, Google Big Query, Google Sheets, MS Excel)
  • Experience working within Agile SDLC environments
  • Business analysis experience is considered an asset
